Sometimes, as I am reading the paper about the car companies looking for money for their poorly run businesses and inflated salaries or the banks twisting the arm of the American people in a “pull us out of the pit we dug, or we’ll pull you all in too” plea, I think to myself… Why aren’t people more pissed off about this?!  Why is it that when times are good we have our heads in the sand and when times are bad we run around like a headless chicken?

In all fairness, people are kind of upset.  The problem is, the average American, as a general rule, cannot conceive the scope of the corruption that exists on Wall Street or with the corporations that virtually run our country.  We pretty much understand that Martha Stewart was a scapegoat but for who.  Why aren’t bank executives on house arrest rather than demanding yet even more money to patch their sinking ships? In a prelude to the shafting that would soon follow, just as it looked like their team had the game locked up, Arizona Cardinal fans in Tucson had their Superbowl broadcast so rudely interrupted by a 30-second pornographic movie clip featuring sextress Jenna Jameson and unidentified male genitals. Unfortunately for many local viewers, the outraged that followed the unsolicited peep show was quickly exacerbated by the Pittsburgh Steelers’ game winning march down the field with just seconds left on the clock.
