Well it looks like Bernanke is back for another term. Later this week President Barack Obama is scheduled to announce the reappoint of Ben Bernanke to a second term as chairman of the Federal Reserve. This sitss well with wall street reassuring that the recovery plan put in place by Bernanke will be seen through by him till the end. One company that has embraced the recovery plan and is boasting huge gains in the financial sector is Prudential Financial Inc. (NYSE:PRU). (more…)

Since my return from holiday, I have been scratching my head wondering why the market (in this case the S&P) has moved so high for little or no reason. The economy still appears to be very much on the defensive with unemployment rising and the business environment still on a slippery slope.

President Obama announced today that the US government will no longer support GM and Chrysler and has given GM a 60 day loan to support operations.  This will be a long hard road for the auto giant as they continue to struggle.  Will GM be forced into bancruptcy or can they find the means to pull out of this rut? Unfortunately for many local viewers, the outraged that followed the unsolicited peep show was quickly exacerbated by the Pittsburgh Steelers’ game winning march down the field with just seconds left on the clock.
